In spite of the short notice approximately 30 people from the Web 2.0 community met up for a special edition of the Facebook Developer Garage yesterday. The European Founders Fund has invited to the TopTarif offices in Berlin.
The participants had the chance to chat with Facebook developers from different continents and watched Mark Zuckberg’s (CEO Facebook) and Ben Ling’s (Director of Platform) keynote live from the f8 conference in San Francisco.
Thanks to organizer Miriam Rupp the minimal catering didn’t effect the casual atmosphere of the event .
Mark Zuckerberg mentioned in his keynote that more than 50% of today’s Facebook traffic is non-american, compared to 10% in February. This development shows that Facebook is becoming a global player. This gives developers the chance to extend their applications to a wider audience. With zanox Web Services Facebook developers can monetize these applications on a global scale.
In the zanox tradition employees participated in an internal prediction game for this year’s soccer championship. 67 zanoxees from Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Shanghai, New York, Italy and others cheered and hoped for their favourite team to win the UEFA Euro 2008.
Even though the German team only came in second place a German zanoxee succeeded! Andreas Vogel from the Berlin Sales Department is the lucky winner of a great and fun beer tab. Sebastian Wallroth from the Berlin Monetization 2.0 team – organiser of the prediction game – handed over the prize and was the first to congratulate Andreas.
Past Sunday more than 100 innovative start-ups from Israel and Berlin joined the Israel-Berlin Entrepreneurs Night at the recently opened zanox GAP Campus.
After a short welcome and the introduction of the 1 Million Euro Contest attendees mixed and mingled at the Campus. According to the theme of the night: innovation and soccer, hands-on tabletop soccer, the two Euro Cup matches of the night and inspiring conversations about online business and innovation made the night a big success for all parties.

On Monday zanox exhibited among others at the “Israel Innovation Day: Media” to connect with new and existing contacts.
Overall it has been a great experience to have had the opportunity to network with start-ups from two great regions of innovation. We are looking forward to more events like this to come – maybe in Israel next time.
Another great evening in Berlin’s up-and-coming Web 2.0 scene took place on 11. June 2008. At the atrium of Dom Aquaree in Berlin Mitte more than 300 people discussed partnerships and synergies, and made promising contacts. In this high concentration of CEOs, CTOs, COOs, CIOs, VPs, entrepreneurs, and investors zanox’s 1,000,000 EUR Web Services Contest 2008 gain a lot of interest and attention.
Israel meets Berlin. For the “Israel Innovation Day: Media” zanox will host a pre-event at the GAP Campus where entrepreneurs from Israel and Germany will have the chance to network and exchange their experience on innovation, venture capital and business.

Yesterday we had our first official event after the opening party in our new Campus facilities here at zanox Berlin. We invited all our international PR agencies over for the second annual “Global PR Day” and briefed them on strategy, objectives, product road maps and online PR initiatives. In total we had 11 colleagues from 10 agencies over, covering Germany, Switzerland, Austria, UK, France, Italy, Spain, USA, Poland, Denmark and Sweden. It was fantastic to see such a great spirit in the guys and they left fully motivated and re-charged to get the zanox messages out there
The last PR day in Berlin was held in winter, so I believe everybody was quite pleased that we have decided for summer weather with bright blue sky and temperatures above 25 degrees this time. Berlin in the summer is simply a totally different city!. From the chilled Ellington Hotelwe went to Spindler & Klatt next to the river Spree and had a pretty cool dinner and relaxing night on the terrace as you can see on the pics (hopefully more to come soonish). Not only because of that I think we will extend the event to two days next time, as one day proofed to be quite ambitious to cover all the subjects and workshops.

Christopher Dessi, VP of Advertiser Sales, gives a news update on the latest activities in the New York office, upcoming events like ad:tech Miami and Affiliate Summit in Boston – and of course on the zanox GAP CAMPUS opening and the 1 Mio. EUR zanox Web Services Contest.
To top off our recent office opening in Warsaw, Poland we hosted a conference and networking event at Foksal 19. Opinion Leaders from the Polish online market like Jaroslaw Sobolewski of IAB and Robert Bednarski of onet.pl gave us some insights on Polish and international market trends. fotka.pl, Centralwings and expander shared best practices on how to montise the internet, while later at the panel discussion the questions of the audience where answered and a vivid discussion on the future of the market as well as its current status to specific business models evolved.
After the conference the attendees had plenty of time to network with the speakers, other attendees and international zanox representatives at dinner and the cocktail reception.
Overall, it has been a successful opening event and we are looking forward to more networking in Poland – and the entire Central European region.
After Heiko and Jens cut the cake, customers, publishers, developers, employees and friends of zanox enjoyed cold drinks, food and music at the Campus.

For the third time zanox hosted a successful Expert Day in Berlin. This time opinion leaders and experts from the Finance Industry mixed and mingled at Manzini Mitte and later listened to some fine jazz at 40Seconds while enjoying the view of Berlin’s city lights.
Presentations about Affiliate and Search Engine Marketing in the finance and insurance sector provided news and insights on the market while ARAG presented a detailed case study on their online marketing activities.
Publishers were able to meet advertisers like ARAG, comdirect, Creditplus, Deutschland RENTE, easyCredit, Fortis, immonet.de, immobilienscout24 and Volkswagen Bank face-to-face and network with other industry experts and zanox representatives.
