zanox follow-up for Travel Distribution Summit 2008

Posted by rschneider in Allgemein, May 23rd, 2008

Travel Distribution Summit 2008 in London was a great opportunity for zanox to present its unique value for the online travel industry.

The zanox seminar “co-opetitions dealt with cooperation and competition scenarios between players in the online travel world. Suppliers, intermediaries and publishers each have their own value for the other two parties. At the same time, there are differentiating factors which are vital to understand before engaging in a cooperation, or to understand why dismissing an opportunity might disregard a potential pillar of the online travel business tomorrow.

Thanks to all participants of the zanox workshop who engaged in the discussion afterwards and even joined us for a couple of beers to continue the conversations.

Please find here the workshop presentation as a free PDF download.

Impressions from Global Distribution Summit in London

Posted by rschneider in Allgemein, Events, May 20th, 2008

Back in the hotel from day one of the Travel Distribution Summit in London. The focus of the event clearly lay on the panels and conferences that went on all day from 9am to 6pm. For zanox, the series of online travel conferences was the obvious choice, and I had the chance to listen to amazing presentations and heated discussions between online travel heavy weight players like Ryanair, easyJet, Skyscanner, Datalex and Hilton.

zanox seized the opportuntiy to present a workshop about co-opetition (competition+cooperation) scenarios in Online-Travel, comparing the business models of suppliers like airlines and tour operators, intermediaries like online travel agents and publishers like travel price comparison sites.

Unfortunately I missed the Travel’s Dragon’s Den final in the afternoon where four travel entrepreneurs pitched their business plans to a group of VC investors live on stage – a bit like Pop Idol, but with suit and tie.

Day one of the Travel Distribution summit ended with us taking a couple of publishers and advertisers to a nearby bar and finish the day off with some pints of lager – zanox-style. Looking forward to tomorrow!

International zanox Expert Day Travel

Posted by rschneider in Events, March 12th, 2008

More than 120 travel industry professionals attended the first zanox Expert Day Travel on March 6th, 2008 in. Everyone was in town because of the ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism fair, and neither the public transport strike nor little polar bear Knut in the nearby Zoo could restrain people from coming to zanox.

High above the rooftops of Berlin, in the rather fancy Puro Sky Lounge, advertisers, publishers and agencies from more than 10 countries discussed news and trends in Online Travel. Presentations held by Skyscanner, Whichbudget and OctopusTravel raised controversial issues about the Future of Online Distribution and the Search GAP in Travel. Oh yeah, there were drinks and music, too! Berlin is renowned for its night-life, and so the regular punters of the Puro Lounge blended with the Travel experts and partied on until dawn.

Big hands up to the sponsors – Ltur, Tuifly, Condor, Thomas Cook, Jochen Schweizer, ebookers and Belvilla for the great support!

Looking forward to the next Expert Day,
