Lessons learned from TechCrunch Meetup Zurich

Posted by Sebastian Wallroth in Miscellaneous, July 18th, 2008

On July 17th, 2008 Thomas Nicolai, head the zanox web service development team, Torsten Trogisch, zanox representative in Zurich, and Sebastian Wallroth, Director Innovation and Cooperation at zanox represented the proud sponsor on the TechCrunch MeetUp in Zurich, Switzerland.

The location was stylish, the people where open, the catering was good – we loved this event. After good experiences with the TechCrunch MeetUp in Berlin on June 11th, 2008 we enjoyed the open athmosphere of the TechCrunch Euro Tour Events again.

The list of the participating StartUps was long and showed a wide variaty. Peter Hogenkamp served as the local host presenting Mike Butcher from TechCrunch and moderated the elevator pitch of the 40 StartUps with a warm attitude.

What I learned during my talks is the following. Even all is not verified, it is interesting, that it was told.

  1. The Swiss do not mail order. Shops for every needs are near to their houses

  2. This Swiss are rich. The decide to work in a bank or not. If they do, they will achive an income of 100,000 CHF without extra effort. All the other has to fight for their money.

  3. The Swiss love technology. They do have a federal institution to support StartUps.

zanox could present its Web Services and got very interested respondings for the 1,000,000 EUR zanox Web Services Contest 2008.

See TechCrunch MeetUp Zurich photos on Flickr and more TechCrunch Meetup Zurich photos on netzwertig.com. There is an interesting video coverage of the TechCrunch MeeUp on Geekness – closer to the world-Blog. See more videos of TechCrunch Meetup Zurich on YouTube.
