Making of: zanox 1000 paper cranes project

Posted by Valerie Ponell in Side Stories, zanox company, January 10th, 2011

How long does it take to make 1000 – a thousand! – paper cranes and put them together to a huge zanox logo? VERY long – that’s all our zanox creative wizard Chris Loonan and his team of supporters said with a smile ;) Now they produced a great stop-motion behind-the-scenes video of their project:

Absolutely crazy and fantastic work guys!

Spain vs. Netherlands

Posted by David Fauck in Side Stories, zanox company, July 9th, 2010

No, we haven’t killed, dried and fried psychic octopus Paul yet – although many of our Berlin colleagues were close to, after it picked Spain over Germany this week… Anyway, today Paul picked Spain, but we don’t want to take sides here ;) That’s why were are proud to present both of our two new blogs here, the zanox Blog Nederland and the zanox Blog Espana!

From now on, both zanox teams – our collegues from Amsterdam as well as from Madrid – will fill you in on the latest local news and stories.

Enjoy reading, commenting and supporting your favourite team! :)

Posted by Thomas Hessler in Side Stories, February 1st, 2010

A little bear on big tour! Last weekend, we took our Berlin Buddy Bear to the top ten Silicon Valley places: Zynga, Apple, Hacker Dojo, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, the Hewlett Packard’s Founding Garage, Stanford University and more. Here are the first pictures of our “geek tour” – enjoy ;)

Christmas all over zanox

Posted by Valerie Ponell in Side Stories, December 7th, 2009

Thanks to our lovely office managers’ efforts in putting up a huge Christmas tree at our headquarter’s lobby today, the Christmas spirit is now all over zanox. The tree’s decoration is – of course – in orange, our zanox Buddy Bear has been equipped with a santa hat, and chocolate and ginger bread is piling up on our desks. And somebody already turned on the Christmas tunes today… We took a few pics to put you in the mood ;)

Summer in the City

Posted by Valerie Ponell in Side Stories, July 3rd, 2009

Oh well, that’s summer in Berlin… Some of us just decided to move our Friday afternoon meeting down to the river Spree, to get some sun and enjoy temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius. And least we had about ten minutes to work really hard – while also working really hard on our tan:

Short-term fun though – this is how lovely Berlin summer looked just a few minutes later:

Let’s just hope it changes back to sun-and-heat mode as quickly as it just did and wishing you all a sunny weekend! :)

A hint of Hollywood spirit in Berlin

Posted by Valerie Ponell in Side Stories, zanox company, May 20th, 2009

It was the biggest video shoot we’ve ever had: Yesterday, we gathered more than 100  zanox employees right at the river Spree for what we expect will be the highlight of our new zanox film (yet a surprise!). The Web Services office turned into the high-tech camera set with a massive window crane. Animators, directors, cameramen, photographers and many helpers were around all day to make all this happen. Big thanks to Laliaflia. And our employees proved to be potential movie stars!  We are already very excited about the final result, which will be presented next week during our zanox Summer Party, the world’s biggest and hottest Publisher party! To give you some first insights, here are some impressions of the big shoot:

Happy Easter!

Our lovely big, orange zanox bear is in a bunny mood! So if you spot him somewhere hiding (or eating) eggs, don’t be surprised. Actually, it might have been him who left all these yummy chocolate bunnies on our desks this morning!

So have a great Easter holiday eveybody, loads of chocolate eggs and a few sunny days!

Alaaf and Helau!

Posted by Valerie Ponell in Side Stories, February 23rd, 2009

This is a little side note, especially for our non-German readers: If you should have tried to get hold on somebody on the phone these days, especially in the area of Cologne, and all you could hear was some weird German oompah music and people yelling “Alaaf” or “Helau” in the background, you should know that this strange behaviour is is an important part of German culture. It’s Carnival high season – or the fifth season, as we call it. You usually wear silly clothes, watch never-ending parades and try to catch as many sweets as possible. And, of course, eat jelly dougnuts, some of them decorated with funny faces or hats. And even if Berlin is not a German carnival stronghold, a bakery close to the zanox HQ sells the biggest jelly doughnuts you have ever seen! As a proof, we took a picture of our “Pfannkuchen” (as we call them here in Berlin), compared to a golf ball. And we equipped them with some funny German carneval hats. Helau and Alaaf everybody!
