Congratulations to our winners! The financial community Sharewise and the crowdsourcing platform humangrid won our $2 Mio zanox Application Store Contest.

With more than 100 participants, choosing the top candidates wasn’t an easy task for the jury. However, the winners’ innovative monatisation models as well as their conversion-oriented approach to the crowdsourcing idea were the most important factors that fully convinced the jury.

humangrid’s “people as a service” SEO Text Create enables publishers to use more than 10.000 international clickworkers to create unique, search engine optimised texts for their website. With Adibility, Sharewise created an app that increases the credibility of ad media by adding  matching Twitter feeds.

We are looking forward to more great ideas by our winners and wish them best of luck with further developing their businesses!

With the zanox partner programme “affiliates find affiliates” our publishers can recruit new publishers for the zanox network. From 17 November 2009 until 29 January 2010 you may also recruit partners and applications for our Application Store.

The zanox Application Store looks for applications that are relevant to the affiliate marketing industry and that provide publishers and advertisers with reliable added value. Developers can upload their own apps, like widgets, tools or software.

To recruit partners and apps for the Application Store, we provided various ad media in our partner programme – like banners, text links, and a video.

As a zanox publisher, you will receive commission for each new partner who registers in the zanox Application Store. Furthermore, attractive commission is paid for each application which is uploaded by the recruited partner and approved by zanox to be published in the Application Store.

Commissions:

• 5 EUR pay per Lead


• 50 EUR pay per App of category “Widget”


• 750 EUR pay per App of category “Tool and Software”


• 750 EUR pay per App of category “Software as a Service”

This campaign is particularly interesting because partners who upload a promising application by January 2010 have the chance to participate in our $2 Mio Application Store contest and can win investment capital amounting to a total of two million US dollars.

Please note that the current deal for applications will initially run for a limited period up to the end of January 2010. More information including detailed conditions for remuneration are available in the zanox User Interface.

One hot app per week: We are happy to introduce you to our new „app of the week” blog series. Starting today, we will present you one app from our Application Store on our Web Services Blog each week. We’ll explain what you can do with, how to use it and of course why we think it’s great. There have been added more than half a dozen new apps since the launch of the zanox Application Store and even more are in the pipeline! Time for us to pick some of our favourite novelties and update you on what’s new. The great thing is: The are all for free! If you want to learn more you can find detailed descritptions on our new apps on the Web Services blog.

To start with, dealunited has provided our advertisers and price comparison publishers with the first Software as a Service (SaaS) in the Store. The tool helps to monetise potentially lost traffic: if a customer cancels the shopping process, the dealunited software offers him to get the product for free if he buys something else on a different partner site. Get a more detailed overview on how this tool works here or get it right away in our Application Store.

Here is something fancy for fans of Google Android mobile phones: The Andora app allows you to scan the barcodes of products, check their price and availibility within our network and also to recommend it to your friends via Twitter.

The Shopotainment Publisher Widget is a service enabling interaction with the product database through social networks, widgets, RSS-feeds, or the shopotainment portal. The systems suggests interesting products for recommendation to friends by learning the users preferences.

We also have two new plug-ins for WordPress CMS users: One adds contextual product data links out of the 60 million zanox product database to each post; the other one enriches the blog search results with product hits from our database.

At last but not least, this is definitely one of our favourites: the BMI widget by the Sweden-based DreamBuilders team! The body mass index (BMI), or Quetelet index, is a statistical measurement which compares a person’s weight and height.  The widget calculates the user’s BMI and – if needed – suggests fitness equipment Special thanks to Sebastian of our Web Services team to try it out – he was suggested a leg trainer, by the way

Along with the zanox Application Store, we also launched our new single sign-on solution zanox Connect, which enables smooth and easy application integration. This process is similar to what you already know from platforms such as Facebook: Once logged-in, you can easily use an application via just one click.

Since the application offer in our store will grow steadily, we implemented a quality benchmark system: Our established zanox AdRank will show how the applications are performing and a star-ranking system as well as a comment function indicates the level of satisfaction from previous users.

Last but not least, launching our new Application Store also means entering phase two of our $2 Million zanox Application Store Contest!
