Today’s big news has probably reached many of you. We, Jens, Heiko and myself – the zanox board and founders – will leave zanox at the beginning of 2010 and will hand over to Phillip Justus, the new CEO of zanox. Last night we prepared an openBoard video message for you, and this episode wasn’t an easy one for us. We talked about why we will leave zanox, our upcoming plans and the future of zanox:

Greetings from IAB Forum Milano. I am here with the lovely Italian team and some French and Spanish co-workers. We can already look back on one busy and successful day at Fiera Milano City .
A lot of new and existing clients stopped by our booth to talk about the latest trends in affiliate marketing as well as the zanox Application Store.
Our booth has been a magnet for networking, even long after the official part of the show. Our Spanish intra-company exchange programme participant Javier did a great job serving German beer.
We are looking forward to more interesting and productive meetings today. Visit us at booth # 23 if you are in the neighborhood.

It is time again for ‘the best meet the best’: The zanox Global Alliance Summit 2009, the exclusive and international get-together of our top partners, just kicked-off in Berlin!

After the launch of our zanox Publisher Initiative last year, this year’s highlights provide our partners with insights into market trends as well as new zanox projects. Today’s conference at the zanox Campus in Berlin includes presentations and discussions on highly relevant topics such as the shift from CPM to CPA or the financial crisis as an opportunity for business growth. We will be also more than proud to officially announce the first zanox VIP Publishers and VIP Welcome Advertisers and to introduce everybody to the new zanox Application Store.

For those of you who are interested in what goes on during the conference, just follow us on Twitter and we’ll keep you up to date! We are very excited about a great and inspiring Global Alliance Summit 2009 and about welcoming everybody in Berlin!

Our lovely big, orange zanox bear is in a bunny mood! So if you spot him somewhere hiding (or eating) eggs, don’t be surprised. Actually, it might have been him who left all these yummy chocolate bunnies on our desks this morning!

Wow, 250 guests at zanox Gap Campus! Last night was one of the biggest events we have hosted at our Berlin Headquarters so far – and it was definitely one of the most exciting ones. The 1 Million zanox Web Services Contest Award Ceremony attracted the who-is-who of the German internet scene, start-up founders, investors and bloggers.  The evening was themed “Internet Republic Germany – entrepreneurs and politicians focus on the internet as a critical success factor” and also hosted the leader of the German liberal party, Guido Westerwelle, as a guest speaker. Starting at 6:30pm tonight, there will be the 1 Million zanox Web Services Contest Award Ceremony held at our zanox GAP Campus. For all of you who can’t be there, we will live-stream the event here on our blog. The evening will be themed “Internet Republic Germany – entrepreneurs and politicians focus on the internet as a critical success factor” and will also host the leader of the German liberal party, Guido Westerwelle, as a guest speaker. It’s that time of the year again – and it’s time for a new exciting zanox project to kick-off. This Christmas, we decided to stop donating and start investing in innovative ideas and entrepreneurship around the world. From now on, we will support several social projects based on the idea of online microfinance platforms. Now you might be wondering what microfinance is and why we decided to support microfinance on a long-term basis – that’s why we prepared this nice little video:

We are very excited about the potential of online microfinance: Imagine a world where ambitious and innovative entrepreneurs are not dependent on the goodwill and random decision-making of big financial players anymore. This is the true web 2.0 spirit we believe in as a company.

And yes, the idea of microfinance might have been emerged in the context of developing countries, but it’s not limited to third world projects. Similar platforms have been founded in Europe to support European projects.

We’ll kick-off with 10,000 Euros, using different platforms and supporting different projects. For example we invested in Sammy Ngure Kungu’s cyber café in Kenya. Sammy plans to expand his business and would like to buy more computers.

And we supported the Nancy Patiño Menacho Group, an ambitious group of female entrepreneurs in Bolivia. The group members are involved in varoius economic activities such as cosmetics or food shops and internet cafés.

Of course we will keep you up to date on the progress on this blog and will soon introduce more projects we invest in.

We hope that many of you will follow us on this way and are now as thrilled about microfinance as we are.

The Berlin Web Week is approaching quickly. It kicks off tonight with the Pre-Web 2.0 Expo Europe Drinkup at QBA.

zanox will take actively part in the Berlin Web Week to strengthen Berlin’s postition as the Start-up and innovation center in Europe; including a booth at Web 2.0 Expo Europe and sponsorships of the leading networking events like BarCamp Berlin 3 and LateCrunch.

Additionally we will host the Facebook Garage at our GAP Campus on 20. October 2008 and the zanox Web Services Contest Finale – Night of Innovations 2008 on 24. October 2008.

Today in Hong Kong and China is the National Day public holiday and in many other parts of Asia its Eid al-Fitr (think I have the spelling right?).

We took the opportunity today to head to the beach with the kids and some friends. The Zanox beach towels got their first outing today. Here is a quick piccie of it in action.’

OMD recently took place in Düsseldorf and housed 20.500 visitors and 412 exibitors making this event one of the biggest and most important online marketing shows in Europe.
zanox – partnered with eprofessional and Axel Springer – on an outstanding booth and we attended great meetings, mixed and mingled at our booth party with old and new friends from the industry.
Thomas Hessler gave his insights on Performance Marketing at the Congress Forum of OMD and in the evening we hosted a zanox VIP Lounge at the official OMD party with international guests and the media.

Parallel to OMD we invited our international top publishers and the media to Düsseldorf to experience OMD and learn more about zanox .

Impressions from the booth party (in German).

The OMD, Europe’s largest online marketing event, kicks off next week in Dusseldorf and we can’t wait!

In addition to having a booth at the show — complete with our infamous booth party on 17. September 2008 from 17:00 – 19:00 — our very own Thomas Hessler, CEO of zanox, is one of the featured speakers on the official OMD conference program. As part of the OMD Congress Forum, Thomas will share his thoughts on Performance Marketing during the “Executive Summary Talk” session which will take place Wednesday, September 17 at 11:45 AM.

Be sure and stop by our booth, #10/A22, to say hello. You can’t miss us…we’ve partnered with eprofessional and Axel Springer for the show, making our booth 400 square meters and one of the largest spaces at the event.

Live from the zanox GAP Campus: deutsche startups Echtzeit Berlin. The kick-off event for the Echtzeit series just started 20 minutes ago. More than 120 people from the German online community are expected to mix and mingle tonight at the Campus.

Past Friday piabo had invited 8 other Berliner Internet companies to gather for a nice afternoon/ evening in the sand.

Berlin also has its beaches – this one especially for Beach Volleyball. Here the water doesn’t come from the ocean but down from the sky in little drops… Despite the bad weather conditions the zanox team was close to Olympia shape. We missed the final by few points. Congratulations to mokono who were the winners of the tournament! Well played!

zanox now is back in training for the next tournament to bring home a gold medal!

Past Sunday more than 100 innovative start-ups from Israel and Berlin joined the Israel-Berlin Entrepreneurs Night at the recently opened zanox GAP Campus.

After a short welcome and the introduction of the 1 Million Euro Contest attendees mixed and mingled at the Campus. According to the theme of the night: innovation and soccer, hands-on tabletop soccer, the two Euro Cup matches of the night and inspiring conversations about online business and innovation made the night a big success for all parties.

On Monday zanox exhibited among others at the “Israel Innovation Day: Media” to connect with new and existing contacts.

Overall it has been a great experience to have had the opportunity to network with start-ups from two great regions of innovation. We are looking forward to more events like this to come – maybe in Israel next time.
